Samantha Reeve MSW., LCSWA (She/ Her)

Samantha is a former collegiate athlete and Appalachian State graduate who brings the resilience, commitment, and mind-body awareness she developed through sports into her work as a therapist. Her experiences as an athlete sparked a passion for supporting people through difficult experiences and helping them reconnect with themselves along the way. Samantha understands that trauma can shape the nervous system and influence how we experience our bodies, relationships, sense of safety, and the world around us. She views these responses not as weaknesses, but as understandable adaptations that once served a purpose. Samantha helps clients approach these adaptations with curiosity and compassion while creating space for new ways of coping and moving forward.

Samatha supports teens and adults navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, self-esteem, and significant life transitions. She has clinical experience treating clients experiencing acute injury, medical trauma, sudden or traumatic loss, community violence, and interpersonal trauma. She is also passionate about working with current and former athletes experiencing performance pressure, injury, shifts in identity, or the transition away from sports.

Trained in trauma-based approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work, mindfulness, narrative therapy, somatic grounding, and nature-based practice, Samantha prides herself on being relational, strengths-oriented, and grounded in cultural humility. She strives to honor each client’s dignity and autonomy while helping them move beyond survival to reconnect with their ability to choose. Rather than being guided by a single model, her work is shaped by the human in front of her. For Samantha, healing is not simply about learning to function despite what happened; it is about developing a more compassionate relationship with yourself and reclaiming the agency to decide what comes next.
